Hi
As the title says i need to create some invoicing for a mobile business.
Now i have created an invoice from google documents, then when i am on the job site i will just fill in customer details and price etc.
My problem is how do i create a copy of this invoice?
I plan on using carbon paper for now but this will probably not work well at all,are there any better options?

Could you not just resave the file with a different name?
Or print 2 copies?

Use one of the many web-based accounting apps out there. KashFlow is the best (I would say that - but so do others, it's won awards to prove it) and available for free for 60 days.
We have lots of people in the same trade using it.
BAsically it's accounting software that runs in your web browser. IF you can use Google Docs, you can use this.
You can create quotes and invoices whilst on the road and print/email/post from anywhere
Click the link below for a free trial. Put your credit card away - we don't need that until you decide you want to buy it.

I won't have a computer or printer with me on the job.
I only fill out the invoice when the job is completed and i get payment then and there,no sending invoices at a later date etc.
When i have the job completed i fill out by hand on the invoice the labour and customers details.

OK, I'm with you. Sorry, I thought you meant you were creating it on Google docs at the customers site.
I can't see what options there are besides carbon paper, writing another copy manully or running it through a photocopier.

What i have printed off before i go to a job is the invoice template,i won't know the full cost until i am finished. So then i fill out the remainder by hand.....if that makes sense. The only way i know is to print 2 copies and use carbon paper to make a copy of what i fill out at the end of the job....messy.

Most printers will be able to print you a duplicate book of invoices. They will personalise it to your specifications.

I thought you were referring to invoicing mobile phones.....

Is it "allowed" to just write another copy or does it have to be an actual copy?

Yep, it's allowed.
You just need to make sure the information is the same.
Specifically: Invoice number, Date, Amount and VAT amount (if applicable)

Save yourself the bother and get a duplicate invoice book printed. It will look more professional and keep HMRC happy.

So if i take my invoice template that i made up to a printing company they will do one up? That would be handy alright.

Yeah, pretty much. A lot of these printing companies will do you a package deal on you letterheads, business cards etc too.

Get some NCR (no carbon required) invoices printed and away you go. Im mobile too and use these for domestic stuff and use kashflow to issue invoices to business customers.I then input the ncr receipts into kashflow making a note of the number in the purchase order box.
