We are just about to launch an internet business which is essentially and online market where one can buy and sell everything from a pair of shoes to a house all via your mobile phone via mms and sms.

Can anyone tell me what SEO is and how it can help our business.

Also can anyone give me advice on buying mobile phone numbers and then bulk sending them sms's

If your just about to launch, and your asking that question - then your in trouble.

SEO is something that should be considered early on in the design stage of a site.

Others can explain what SEO means, but one question you need to ask, is what will make your site different to the others out there that are similar?

Why would people use your site instead of the established competition?

Also be careful about anyone who says they can get you the number 1 spot in Google or any other SE. They often use blackhat techniques, which could lead to a ban in the SE's listings.

Whenever I give advise out to someone, I always say start with simple link building, for instance posting on a couple of blogs, and work your way up. If people think your website is interesting enough, they will link to you. The hardest part is getting your name out there.

Yes i do agree with you thats exactly right. thats why we offer higher rankings we dont say to clients we can get you top rankings. This is why no one cannot predict the search engines noone ever knows where a site is going to be placed.

The best way is to use your keywords in the link text on other directories. This would increase rankings. But i must say this dont happen over night it took us 6 months or more to get where we are today. but you have to keep doing it there is no stopping.

So for instance we use professional web design and link it to our website and i think we are on the second page of google for that key phrase.
