SEO is the process of getting your website the organic traffic to your website, rather than paying on a per click basis.

Agreed, too many people do this IMHO. SEO is the most important part of online business for many sites and isn't given a second thought until after sites have gone live.

There are a few online marketing tactics you should be aware of, the main ones are:

Search engine optimisation - you can read more about this on seochat.com.
Pay-per-click - which you can do on Yahoo!, MSN and Google.
Affiliate Marketing; and
E-mail.

I also wouldnt pidgeon-hole yourself and say it's only aimed at the mobile market as this is still a very small percentage of internet usage. In the states on about 6% of people even use their mobile for the internet, even those who do still use their PC to do most of their shopping as it's easier.

I thought exactly the same. SEO is fundamental to the design of the site and should vbe given the same attention as that to usability and accessibility. I'm amazed that the question is being asked at this late stage and if it hasn't been considered it's a little too late as incorporating SEO may well require considerable redign work on the site.
