Hi

I thought I would share a little tip that I am sure some of you are already doing but maybe not all of you.

We are a Carbon Offsetting company "for profit" but we have had a lot of success as a cause on facebook.

We have setup a Carbon Offsetting Facebook group and are getting lots of people sign up, we have had over 100 in a couple of weeks. See facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=56602716083&ref=ts

Things that are helpful.
Make a lot of friends on facebook.
Ask you friends to invite their friends.
In the description do not be afraid to ask people to promote the group.

What other tips do you have?

Not strictly what your talking about but concerning there text ads system.

IMHO there ads system is just a con, I signed up placed my ads got loads of views for the first couple of days and then they just almost stopped, increased the cpc and they started to go back up but no where near as much as the first couple of days.

Okay you could argue that maybe competing advertisers increased there CPC which brought down mine but I'm betting that's not the case. ;)

Anyway so I had also added a $50 coupon so I wasn't too worried, I thought I would trial it and see if it had much impact, reached $50 and too a look at my bank account to find they had taken the charges out of my card not the coupon.

I emailed to complain and they said "The coupon I had added had expired a couple of days after I added it and so wasn't used" meaning that even if you add a coupon before it has expired charges against it wont apply after the expiry which to me is taking the urine somewhat.

Anyway with that I promptly closed the account. If they are going to treat customers like that I don't want to know.

I wasn't impressed with the ads either.

I closed the account but it took a few nudges and emails to get them to take my Bank details OFF their system.

So if you've closed your account I would check..

Try adding an RSS feed to your fan page showing all the latest news from your website.

You may also want to explore Facebook Connect as a way of tying your website and Facebook following together.

If you have an RSS feed on your site already then searching the applications on Facebook for one of the RSS readers will enable you to embed it in you rpage.

Here is an exmaple. (http://www.facebook.com/pages/WeCanDoBIZ/7962983377)

That page uses RSS Connect, which you can find the app page for if you do a search in Facebook.

I hope this helps but feel welcome to shout if not!

Thats very good idea but also we can send email for many people and tell them to join in face book as a friend

Tes, it's pretty easy to build a friend list on Facebook and also to add a fanpage for your business, but the key is to keep them engaged with your website rather than running a parallel site within Facebook.

That is why publishing an RSS feed helps, because it keeps those connections up to date on what's happening on yyour website (and clicking on items takes them back to the site) with zero effort.
