Microsoft is to sponsor the business social networking site Business-Scene.com and its networking events across the country, in a bid to drive technology adoption amongst small and medium sized businesses. Microsoft joins BlackBerry as national and regional sponsor of Business Scene, and other partners including the Telegraph Business Club and Business Matters Magazine.

Business Scene brings together thousands of small and medium sized businesses from across the UK through its online community and regional networking events. The sponsorship includes coverage for the Microsoft and BlackBerry at these events and online at www.business-scene.com (http://www.business-scene.com/).

Robert Epstein, Head of Small Business, Microsoft UK said, “Microsoft is keen to work with the broad array of business communities across the UK. We are already working with the very established institutions such as the IOD and the Chambers of Commerce, however we are also looking to work with a new wave of more recently established business community organisations that put a greater emphasis on communication through the web yet still believe in the value of face-to face-interaction through events.

“In the US 17% of Small Businesses are now using Facebook as a vehicle to promote their businesses via ‘Business Social Networking’. We see this as a sign of things to come in the UK and are investigating forging closer ties potential partners in this space. In light of this, we are delighted to announce our partnership with Business Scene, who is at the forefront of business social networking bringing together small and medium business people and influencers across the UK through events, whilst at the same time creating a robust online community.”

Warren Cass, Founder, Business Scene said, “We have found that businesses are looking for more creative and cost effective ways of reaching their target audiences. By supporting our online community and networking events, sponsors have direct access to a large and growing number of small and medium sized business, with the opportunity to reach them online and face to face.”
