Buying Stock From Retail Shops

Quick question (i'm sure someone here will know). Are there any rules preventing a sole trader from purchasing a very small quantity of an item from a retail store and selling them on? I'm looking to buy some boxes of chocolates to complement my main products and it's not worth going to wholesale for such a piddling quantity.

Not to my knowledge no, just means your own costs are higher.

Some items state not for resale. As long as it doesn't state that then I'm sure it'll be OK.
