View Full Version : Submission of CT600 form for inactive LTD company

Hi there,
I'm submitting 1st year final accounts for a limited company and I have done all the bookkeeping up to P&L / Balance sheet etc.
Originally I figured to do the tax returns myself, but having read the guide and several threads here, I realise that I need someone more qualified to do that.
However, the company has been quite inactive in the first year (turnover was £38, net profit -£160) and I read somewhere that you can submit just the final accounts without the CT600 forms etc. Am I right in this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
Cheers

correct and to the point :)
Unfortunately forms like the CT600 are why you need accountants and why accountants have exams.
How about a free course to see if you can learn how to do it yourself, see here on the HMRC site:

HI
With the Limited company course, it would depend on the area you lived, the one I went on the person did not know much at all and did not even have an example of a completed CT600 form so was a little waste of time, because of this not being helpful and the fact we are new company and cannot justify the cost of an accountant as I am a bookkeeper we purchased DIY Accounting think it was under £20 (Terry Cartwright on this forum) runs this company, if you google DIY accounting it will come up with website and you can pay by paypal and it is an excel spreadsheet package that if you input the right information from your bookkeeping records it will create all the forms for companies house and your CT600 form. I have not used it myself yet as year end not near yet and waiting for a quiet time to sit down and go through it all but from what I have read it is fairly easy to input the data.

Your company is not inactive if it has turnover of £38 so you will need accounts and a CT600.
You can do this online with HMRC yourself after registering.
You might find this guide useful at the hmrc website, copy the link and put www and a . before the hmrc ( system wont let me post a link yet :-) )

I cant say if you could manage a CT600 yourself, but I can see why you dont want to use an accountant for this. In the future you may well need an accountant if you want to keep the company and its trading.
Hope that helps.
