Has anybody used Alliance & Leicester Business Banking? What has your experience been with them please?
We've been using Abbey until now, but their service has been terrible. Hopefully A&L are not like them.

Abbey are part of Alliance & Leicester too.
Ive been with Alliance for about 3 years now dont have any complaints but it depends what you want from your bank? Alliance & Leicester is £5.00 if i remember correctly and you send your cheques to them through the post or from post office which is free postage and they give you a reciept.

Hi
I have been banking with A&L for nearly 3 years now and have no complaints.
Their telephone service is good - quick to answer, helpful etc

Another thumbs up for them.. You send the cheques through the post, which I was worried about at first, although I've never had any problems and they clear them when they receive them.

Another vote from me for Alliance & Leicester. I have been using them for nearly three years (with free banking for the first two) and have found them efficient and helpful.
The facility to deposit cheques at the PO is very convenient since I am there every day posting out orders. I find the internet banking very easy to use as well.
I considered switching to Abbey when my free banking ran out, but thought I should stick with the devil I know. And this month, I got nearly £1 interest on my currrent account balance! :)

Been with them since 2005, no probs with the internet transactions, just found q'ing up in the Post Office to put a sales cheque in "a special envelope" a pain in the backside! Hopefully now they are junctioned with Abbey, things will creep into the 20th century ...... if they don't I have a new a/c with HSBC on stand by!

Ive been with them for a couple of years, my experience with them is pretty much like other business banks, i.e. for day to day stuff where you don't have any queries they're fine, need to query something, not so good.
One thing that tees me off (that they promise will change) is that you cannot see the references for BACS payments on statements so if you want to reconcile your statement you need to go into each payment and see what it was for. It lets you enter a reference when you make the payment but doesn't show it, daft!
You get free banking which is pretty good and interest.

I'm with A+L, and the only thing that I have noticed that is bad about them is they simply will not accept cheques over the counter at their branch. But this is more convenient for me anyway as my local post office is just round the corner and you can deposit your cheques there.
Internet banking could be a bit more secure - all the other banks seem to have "random code generating" gizmos. None of that with A+L, but on the upside, you would have been locked out of your account if you lost the gizmo!
