I’m going to be launching my new kid’s pub/party venue next month and I want to get as much local coverage as I can. I’m gong to be getting in touch with all of the local papers, news channels, local MP and a few local celebrities/well known faces. I even have a Storm Trooper, balloon modellers, face painters, a two man cow and a clown at my disposal for getting peoples attention!!!

However, I would like to get someone like a top DJ, X Factor Singer or children’s TV presenter to cut the ribbon on the day. Does anyone know how I would go about getting in touch with such a celeb?

The bar will basically provide magic, balloons, face painting, games, discos and catering for younger children. Just discos & catering for the 8+ age range, community drop in centre/café in the week for parents with young children, youth club mid week evenings, various lessons such as Salsa & Yoga, families weekend discos, private party hire and anything else I can think of to keep the place occupied 7 days a week.

Since I’m planning on doing lots of community and youth work I was hoping there might be some free/cheap way of getting celeb endorsements?

My advice would be to give ITV/BBC/Chan 4 a phone call. They will have far more celeb contacts than a radio station and might be able to give some assistance!

Good luck!

One good source of income for you could be Christmas... I know a venue who used to serve a large portion of the Christmas night out/days out for oil companies etc...

These guys are away from their kids 10/12 months a year: the oil companies jump on the chace to give their families a day out like this and of course pick up the bar tabs. The best I ever heard them doing in this sector was 500 people (it's a huge venue) and they gave all the kids 'free' access to all the activities going on, had clowns, magicians, etc. in and the adults got a free bar. Think they charged the company something like £20 a head. You should get a wee sales rep (or someone in the company you already hire) to get on the phones and go round all the big offices in your area from Octoberish time and get Christmas parties arranged... As I say, the fact you can bring the kids/family along is the big USP in comparison to a club/formal dinner/whatever else they might have in mind. Most big companies have someone in charge of all their nights out so it's not difficult to get a meeting set up. Obviously then have a 50% off pass for the kids on the night to give to the parents and you've got repeat business as long as what you're doing is of a good standard. Adults can have a drink and the kids can go mental :)

I'd just ask my PR company to sort it out. If you don't want to do that, google 'hire a celebrity uk'
