HI

I am looking for a company to quote me for business insurance.
Is it required by law?
Originally the company I would like to set up was going to have a small office to be based at. But to reduce cost it is going to be run from home for the time been. (hopefully not more than 6 months)

I will need insurance for the equipment that will be carried in the van, (maximum of £2K) because this is not covered under the vehicle insurance.

Any ideas where I can get a quote from?

My wife runs her sewing business from home and we had some trouble getting insurance not least because a) most policies only cover clerical work at home and b) most policies do not provide for public liability cover of customers visiting your home. We wanted combined home contents and building + business insurance. It sound's like you situation is different however be aware of potential problems with your domestic insurance if you run a business from home.

See this thread (http://forum.lamdesign.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=79) for more details. The policy we chose might be useful to you (it includes, for example, goods in transit) and if not I suspect the same broker could help you out.
