We intend to franchise in about a year's time, and I am collecting information about this. Any information will be greatly appreciated :)

It would be well worth getting info at this stage from the Brtish Franchise Associaation.

For a successful franchise you will need to demonstarte a strong track record and have put in place the support systems and documentation for your prospective franchisees.

My experience is that people think it will be a lot more straightforward than it really is to franchise out a business idea. Businesses that can be successfully franchised are those that have been running successfully for some time. Those that set out to become a franchise rarely get to that stage.

The finance required to advertise the franchise opportunuty and to produce the manuals etc should not be underestimated either.

Just to add, the BFA website address is http://www.british-franchise.org/ - may be some useful info there.

Yes, it is very serious and very scary. I am still trying to find out about franchises and learning very s l o w l y - thanks for the link, Gary!

It may be a situation that we will be at in about a year's time. Or I might find another way, probably just as serious and scary.
