Hi there.

I would like to introduce my business Allan Akers Virtual Tour Photography (AAVTP for short). As you can probably tell, I provide Virtual Tours.

Firstly, I would be interested to see how many people successfully manage to view a virtual tour that I have produced as a demo, whilst my website is being created. Click www.allanakers.com/property to view the demo.

Secondly, what is your personal oppinion of virtual tours? Do they provide any value? Or are they a waste of webspace?

Your views will be most appreciated. :D

Hello.

Extremely good virtual tours we have here; and what a great idea :)

Hello aavtp :)

It is certainly a good idea, and I have seen this on a property site before.

However, some friends of mine went to view a house they had 'toured' in this way and they did say that it makes all the rooms look bigger than they really are. They had expected a much more spacious bathroom, for instance, but in reality it was quite poky.

I haven't had personal experience, so that's all I can comment.

But the very best of luck with it! :D It's certainly better than not being able to see the houses at all!

Hello Allan

Have you considered marketing to interior designers?

The ability to include 360 degree pics of finished rooms would be of interest to me. My web site is being re-designed and something like this would really help with presenting the kind of work I do.

I have tried experimenting with an ordinary digital camera and software to stitch images together, but with little success. Is that little flying saucer thing on your site a special camera for the job?

A lot of the work I do is a bit further south than North East Scotland! - how far do you travel to take pictures?

Colin, I am currently producing some images for the Interior Designer of the Ministry Of Sound nightclubs and am always looking for different types of venues to photograph, whether it be a nightclub or caravan.

The flying saucer thing is one of the lenses which I use to take the images. I have a variety of hardware & software which I use, it depends on the job at hand.

I can produce compressed high quality images for a website or full screen Virtual Tours for CDROM presentations and even Panoramas http://www.allanakers.com/pano.htm which hang lovely on the office wall. :D

AAVTP provide these services across the UK and even some areas of Europe, ie Belgium & Holland. Distance is no limit! (provided we have a translator)

You can give me a call on 0845 226 1011 if you would like more information.

Regards,
Allan Akers.

Hi Allan and welcome to the forums.

I've just had a very interesting tour on your website.
I think it would be a boon for people like yourself who are looking to buy properties far away, particularly holiday homes and other such properties abroad. It would save a vast amount of time viewing unsuitable properties and certainly worth the costs.
I would like to be able to see the views from the windows as well as a view of what is outside which can be very important to some people.
I take Thais point about perspective but By giving dimensions as well it should reduce that problem.

It may be a good way of showing work done by interior designers such as colin and I'm sure that it can be applied on many other professionals and service providers websites.

Its a shame that the zoom doesnt give a clear view of objects which would make some viewings even more informative.

I wish you every success in the venture and I would certainly use this type of service if I was in the market for the above.

Some friends of mine are web designers and do almost all the estate agents websites for the whole of northamptonshire, and they use Virtual Tours quite a lot.
I also used Virtual Tours for a table dancing club I did the website for a few years ago (anyone heard of Spearmint Rhino ;)). I think they are a great addition to websites if used effectively.

Yes, definitely a valuable addition on certain sites and as the uptake on broadband increases, I would suspect a growing market.

Why don't you contact web developers to partner with in addition to property-related businesses?

(We already have a partner in this field, I'm afraid)
