General question -

If a text comes in that says to initiate a payment, is it ok for a script to run to charge it to a Virtual Terminal, or does it need be with an internet merchant account and not using a virtual terminal etc.?

Cheers

Sorry - I really didn't make that clear -

Imagine we receive an SMS agreeing to buy something. Could we have a system that triggers a payment through a virtual terminal (using some coding) so that it logs on, and chooses the customer and the amount or does that go against the terms of using a virtual terminal? Or should we be using an internet merchant account and another method?

OK...

So the company receives an SMS text message from someone agreeing to buy something. You have their card details already. You're asking if you (the company) can charge that card via your virtual terminal?

It's depend on the Terms of the terminal provider - they usually also provide another interface, ie an API that would be more suitable for this. More importantly islikely to be the type of merchant account behind it and whether it's MOTO, internet etc.

I know some people with merchant accounts that aren't really for CNP transactions take the "what they don't know wont hurt them" approach.

Cheers, that's correct Duane... Never thought about them providing an API... will look into it :)

Thanks for that.

If you want an easy life, forget ProTX, etc and use Iridium (http://www.iridiumcorp.co.uk)

Cheers - I am looking at them, and spoke with Sean there - although I haven't used them, their customer service is great and they're adaptable!

If you're a KashFlow user and need a merchant account, let Iridium know. We did a deal so KF users get access to Trade body pricing.

Haha - I'm sorry :p

We don't have a need, book-keeper looks after all of that. I guess we could convince her to switch :D

Nah, get rid of her, use KF to do it yourself. Bookkeepers are sooo 2008.

And why would I scrap a free resource to have to take on the work myself :p - she's a family friend that wanted to build up her portfolio :)
