I have had a quick look and there are only 1 or 2 posts that actually mention this software.
I have been looking into eCommerce software and was osCommerce i cant stand, Zen Cart i just dont like either and both seem very old scripts with bulky features. Rather tan re-write from the ground up every so many years they seem to just add to it.

So i have been looking at new scripts and came accross storesprite.com which seems really good. I havnt really come accross any bad posts for it so far, although i have not seen thousands of positive ones either.
I was looking at Magento also but i found a few posts saying it can be slow so i kind of left that. But i am still interested in Store Sprite and would love to see if there are any negatives that people have come accross first hand.

Cheers

Tony,

Your right that oscommerce is an old script but if it ain't broke then don't fix it! It works well for us and thousands of others. I think Magento may be one for the future but too slow at the moment

It depends on your outlook i suppose.

I agree in some aspects if its not broke dont try to fix it, but then on the other hand we all try to better ourselves in 1 aspect or another so why not do it with software.

I agree thousands and thousands it does a job for, but could that job be done better using different software? Maybe/Maybe not. But i have the option to look for the best software out at the minute for my site which it is better to do that now rather than get my site up and running then decide the software is not quite what i am after.

Just a thought but i dont really want to talk about osCommerce etc im just after reviews on StoreSprite, although i think i might just install it and have a play around myself.

Installation seems pretty simple, back end is very nice and again very simple, however after install the main site comes up with an error (http://247football.org/shop) this may be due to me choosing the wrong version to download but i dont think that is the problem. Anyway i will looki into it and try to find the problem and keep you updated.

Im not sure if there is any interest in this but i thought it may be useful due to the lack of information elsewhere on the internet.

Have a look at Cubecart :)

They have great support forums and hundreds of mods + addons.

We have setup 4 stores using cubcart so far.

Ive used cubecart also, i wasnt overly impressed with that either.

To be honest though, ive nstalled storesprite and it has an error message from a clean install, i registered on the forums this monring and still need to be accepted by an admin before i can post on their forums, 6 hours ago - Am i being pesimistic when i think theyre making it hard for you to ask a question on their support forums so you phone their help line?

Hmm, i have just sent an email so we shall see how it goes.

That could be the reason there are very few posts about it. Is it US software? Might be a time delay in that your forum admin chap is still asleep

If you're set on using open source then osCommerce worked really well for us years ago and the number of add-ons has increased loads since then.

Its easy to get hung up on the type of Ecommerce software to use, after all its nothing more than a sales channel and they all have pretty much the same features... including hosted Ecommerce solutions (http://www.internetretailer.biz) like ours.

Its a bit like worrying over which til to buy for your shop when there are customers queued up waiting to buy something :D

I have never used storesprite so I cannot comment but here is a list of open source ecommerce carts which will allow you to compare features. Perhaps then you could post your findings about storesprite so others can make an informed choice. Prestashop seems to get a lot of positive comments.

prestashop was the other 1 i was considering.

As for oscommerce i just dont like it. Its horrible to administer, install, skin add plugins etc. I want a script i can skin myself istead of paying £100+ for someone to do it, i want a script which installs with ease, and if i want to add payment gateways or other add ons can be done so without spending days doing it.

As for hosted eCommerce solutions im a big fan of http://www.gocommerced.com my mum used them to set up a new website and the support she received was really good. Infact they may even be registered on here now as i mentioned this is a good place to register on to the owner of it.
