Hi guys
Little while ago I posted with regards to readymade gear store for our company, but did not get response, perhaps there is no out there.
I have now decided to use external company to develop one for us. We want a website with CMS where we can upload different items with prices, the only thing different with standard ecomm site is that buyers will not pay for those item instead they will insert special code to place an order.
This system will be used within the company between different departments, will not be advertise externally, so SEO is not important.
Interested companies please get in touch for more details and proposal.
Regards
Ahsan

I would steer you towards Creospace (http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=4905) for this type of job tbh. Their database backend work is excellent, and they'll sort this out for you in a jiffy.

I would be happy to quote for this - I do a lot of this kind of thing.

I know of a few companies that run systems with inter-store stock transfer.
Not sure if they'd be suitable without a bit more detail.
Please add me to your list.

I would like to thank everyone who have responded to my request. Some very professional, clever and expert brains here I must say. Response was overwhelming.
We have now selected the company to work on this project.
Many thanks once again.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I am looking for something like this as well.
I have an existing retail ecommerce website but would like to set up a subset of this which would be available to trade customers only. I would prefer trade customers not to access this through the retail site as they are all a bit touchy about wholesalers selling direct!
My existing developer says the way to go would be to set up new site with some kind of feed from my existing site. He would charge a setup fee and an annual license fee for his software. I am willing to pay for setup but do not want to pay any more annual fees than I do already.
Anybody interested in giving me some advice or quoting for work?

You can setup a new site or create a sub domain for your retail customers.
I am interested in this job. Please PM me more details and I will let you know the solutions that we can offer.

Certainly you need another domain (site), but it should all feed off one database.
You would then add attributes and flags to each product accordingly - eg. retail price, trade price, retail product data - additional data for the trade - retail only, or trade only or both, trade pack size, etc, etc, etc.
As for costs - there is development cost, and ongoing support (license).
How much is reasonable, and how much excessive only you can know - although there are many on here that would happily quote.
Perhaps it is time to look at a more robust solution - depends on what you already have and what you are paying - or are you just ready for a new system provider?
To get an idea of cost for an "off the shelf" (ish) package, have a look at www.pearlsoftware.co.uk
and specifically
http://pearlsoftware.co.uk/index.php?p=signup
the second links gives costs for various modules.
If you want to chat through any ideas, please feel free to PM or call (contact details at www.practicalebusiness.co.uk)

Don't forget systems like Magento. I am sure you employ a programmer to make any changes or additions that you need.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me.
Don't really want to move to new software, although the pearl stuff does look very good.
What is magneto?
Thanks
