Hi

I am new to blogging and do not know too much about it. I set up two blog pages using blogger and one with wordpress this week and am pleased with what I have done so far. The issue I am having is, I don't know how to advertise that I have these blogs! I have put a couple of links on BTTradespace which I use a lot but not getting many hits really.

Does anyone have any tips for this?
Thanks

Sarah

Get a webmaster account with Google/Yahoo tell them about your blogs. You should be able to sign up eaily enough. Google sign up is on top right hand side...I think yahoos is on their homepage.

Let other search engines know about your blog. Sign up with twitter/stumbleupon etc etc...

Sign up with feed distribution sites...get your blog feed out there.

Hope this helps

Clarity....Several key things to do..

(a) Do some keyword research to make sure you are posting on specific phrases which are in demand

(b) Promote your posts on social engines...use a tool like "socialmarker"l to help

(c) Write articles with very compelling titles eg "secrets of" "review of" and submit them to article sites with signcature links back to your blog....bloggers wil pick them up on their blogs.

(d) Put links from your blog to other blogs you like, and then post really good comments on their blogs.......they will in the end link to yours.

(e) Submit your RSS feed to feed aggregation sites...eg feedagg, bumpzee...

(f) Set up a squidoo lenses, hubpages and incorporate your feeds

Lots more, but theres a start....

Admagic's hit most of the bigger ones so ...

The best advice I was given when I started my blog was to write great content that people would want to read then give yourself time to be successful.

Be consistent in your content and with your promotion and - if your stuff is good - people will start reading it, and talking about it and linking to it ...

Yes , it is probably the most important of all.....not just getting them there, but also getting them to come back!!

Thank you all for your advice. I am starting to work on some of these ideas today. I might ask our developer to help me with all the techie stuff!

Each time you post a blog, make sure you send a link to.

technorati dot com/ping

Sorry can't post the link as I'm not allowed yet..

Whilst true...it is worth pointing out that wordpress does this automatically.

... plus if you use Feedburner to handle your feed you can set up pings to around a dozen sites automatically when you post - pingshot (http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/publishers/pingshot)
