Hello again everyone,

I wonder if anyone here uses 123-reg for their hosting. I am planning in signing up with one of their hosting packages? I have looked at their websites but can't seem to find the answer, I'd like to know if they provide a service where I can password protect several pages.

If anyone using them, what is their service and support like?

I have looked at othello/designrweb but 123-reg is offering 500mb space and 5000mb bandwidth for much cheaper but not sure if 123-reg provide services that Othello has for their hosting packages.

Thank you.

I use Macoman ( http://www.macoman.co.uk ) - their service is excellent, and think the prices are quite competitive.

With regards to service, there's a forum (like this one) where users can post questions etc., and there's usually an answer soon afterwards.

Hi

I am interested to transfer to a UK based host - currently with doteasy.com who are based in the US - their service is good - but sometimes can be a touch too slow for my liking.

Been to yoursimplehost and get error 404 on every page beyond index.htm... the site is under construction - are they a new service then?

macoman looks to be a good service and seems well priced. Anyone else here host their sites with them???? I would be interested to know.

Cheers
Phil

I've been with YourSimpleHost for quite a while now and they are just updating their site. You can still email David at david@yoursimplehost.co.uk and he'll still sort you out. He'll give you good prices if you mention me :-)

You will be able to password protect pages using 123Reg's hosting, but I don't think they have it in their control panel so you'll need to do it manually - not that difficult but can be a bit tricky if you're not that technical. 123Reg hosting is pretty basic but good for an equally basic website.

These forums are hosted by Transnexis ( http://www.transnexis.com ) and they also host Tie Warehouse's sites. I've found them to be excellent value with good support and I would certainly recommend them.

One thing I would like to add as well is that you should not choose a service on price alone. You're right to get recommendations as well, but rather pay more for a recommended service, than pay cut-price just to save money. Chances are you'll regret it if you did.
