Hello, I am a solicitor and run The Legal Practice Ltd.
The Legal Practice was designed for those who don't have time to get legal advice during normal working hours.
Telephone appointments are available in the evenings & weekends and it maybe possible to book a late evening appointment at the office.
Appointments can be made in Pinner, Wembley Park, Richmond and the Embankment area of London. I specialize in Probate and Family work and also have a commercial law and trust law specialist available. The firm is a member of the Solicitors Family Law Association and will soon be a part of the Solicitors for the Elderly organisation.
I would very much welcome advice on establishing a new business and would love to hear from members who have recently started working for themselves. I am particularly interested in knowing how businesses attracted their clients and useful ways to build a client base.
My email address is nmandair@thelegalpractice.co.uk or if you prefer you can call me on 020 8904 9767.
Thank you
gj

Hi Navjiven
Welcome to forum. If you want advice on establishing a business, may I suggest you post the specific points you are looking for assistance on - people are reluctant to respond to a general post, but you will likely get a few good quality posts in reply to specific posts.
One thing I would say about my dealings with solicitors is that it is worth specialising - as an accountant, I find it much easier to refer clients etc to someone I know who specialises in the particular, (and that lawyer comes readily to mind.
I was talking to someone today who told me that they rang a solicitors office enquiring about a commercial law matter and was told that they had someone who "dabbles" in commercial law!
So, either specialise or at least put someone forward as the firm's specialist in that area, rather than a "dabbler"
Good luck with the new venture
Regards
Graham Jenner

Great stuff, a solicitor available at nights.
I am looking for a one handed solicitor, as my solicitor is forever telling me " on the one hand, but on the other hand"
why isnt advice exact and too the point?

Hello Navjiven,
Welcome to the forum. I think that gi makes a good point around specialism. Your proposition needs to be more clear to support effective marketing in my view.
What I have seen work for other solicitors, friends of mine, include:
1. Regular legal musings column in local community advertising paper
2. Free topic focused seminars/conferences on specific hot subject areas - I acknowledge that this needs to be promoted/advertised to the right people but the local press will often do it for free given you are doing for free and Rotary and Chamber of Commerce organisations are also good vehicles.
I am seeing a couple of solicitors for a drink soon and will have a chat with them as to what else works. As gi suggested, a few more specific points from you would help first.
