This forum was recommended by a friend, anyway. Basically I just want some advice and suggestions from all you good people.

I want a create a software/service that will notify a person if and when he receives an email to his phone number as a text message. I have tried searching for such service and I couldn’t find any. I think I may have crossed something like this earlier but am not to sure.

How this would work is that you pay a monthly fee say around $19.99 a month, and then any messages you get from any email addresses e.i whether it be from hotmail,yahoo or businesses emails accounts. You will be sent a summarized version of that email to you phone number. Instead of just a notification.

And you can also instruct it to send you emails only from a specific person or email address. And also you can reply to emails (additional charges may apply)

I don’t know if and how fees able this is. But can you tell me if $19.99- max.50 mails a month $49.99 is fair,(max.150 emails)

And also do you think this service can take off?

And also I am not quite sure how I would do this and whom I would need to contact for exams for the sms services.

So if possible can you give me some suggestions and advice regarding this issue?

Without wishing to put a dampner on it, one problem I do see is spam. Whilst I have cleaner software on my PC (outclass (http://www.vargonsoft.com) - excellent tool!), any sms notification would come before it get's filtered. As such, people may receive a stack of message alerts at all hours of the day and night, and reach your 50/150 limit pretty quickly.

I know that BTYahoo already offer something similar. You can set the service to notify you of emails from specified people, specified content or received at specified times eg when you are out of the office. This overcomes the problem Stephen mentioned in his post about spam emails etc.

They text you with the name of the sender and the subject. You can then request additional content of the email - they send you as much as will fit in a text message and you can then ask for the next bit and so on if you wish.

Cost is 18p per alert, but if you prepay, you can get them for as little as 10p.

I assume others are offering similar services.

As it seems that at this stage you only have the idea, but not how you would go about it etc. I suspect that the big companies have too much of a head start on you in this area.

Orange also offer this service for free if you use them for your mobile phone. A friend of mine also offers this service (dont know if charges) and you can call a national rate number and have a computer read your email back to you. (I also provide the reading back of email service but cannot yet provide the SMS service)

well i guess i will get off that now, and look for something, else, i always thought, it was going to be too hard and complex to do such thing.
