PLease take a look at this new directory. Its in beta testing, so just NW business details are on at the moment. Please supply feedback. Lifedirectory.co.uk

Certainly a good looking directory. Not comprehensive at the moment but I guess that is to be expected.

A couple of other businesses you might like to add:

Ours www.bsamarketing.com (http://www.bsamarketing.com) - an web Marketing (http://www.bsamarketing.com)company

An Excellent Local Butcher - www.mettricksbutchers.co.uk (http://www.mettricksbutchers.co.uk)

Both based in Glossop, Derbyshire.

Couple of bits of feedback/questions:

1. Its all done in flash by the look of it, has it been set up so that links from entries in the directory can be crawled - it will be much easier to get people to sign up to it if it has

2. Are you offering basic free listings?

3. On the forms (reg, login etc) are white text on yellow background, so you can't see the text

Also notice a number of the details are out of date (Northern Tool Hire & Kwiksave, on Arundel Street Glossop (SK13 7AB) are no longer there (Kwiksave is now an Aldi!)

This said, looks good, and has a good page rank

First thanks for the comments.
Site is in beta testing using a bought database so some entries are inaccurate, point taken.
We are hoping people will update their info themselves.
The basic listing is free, with a profile of 1 picture/logo and 100 words.
Yes the links and the text can be crawled. Also coming are tags within the text.
The yellow background is a problem we know about, something to do with IE version.
There is a lot more comming on the site including reviews, daily offers listings (locally) weather, news etc rss feeds. The listings are weighted so those businesses providing rich content, regular updates etc will receive better listing.
And yes the £30 annual admin charge is the only cost!
Again thanks for the interest, and keep watching (and of course please sign up if you wish). (As you can see we are not using a hard sell technique, the product speaks for itself).

my olny comment at the mo, is i put the first two letters of my post code in LA, which brings up Lancaster, but the LA post codes goes up as far as grasmere, all the results were going south into lancashire and nothing in southern cumbria. just had another play and put KE instead as re read the text. better, but as you say alot of the info is out of date.
