Currently based in Guildford Surrey, the company offers PATesting Services countrywide and is soon to open an office in Derby.

The company has only myself as its employee/director.

Anybody wishing to find out more about the company or its PATesting services please feel free to contact me.

We do not carry this out. Does it apply to a sole trader business run from home? It would be helpful if you made the requirements clear.

I also note that your poll lacks a NO option.

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for pointing out the lack of NO, now sorted.

In answer to your question 'Does it apply to a sole trader business run from home?'

Basically yes, the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 puts a duty of care upon both employer (Sections 2, 3 and 4) and employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises, this includes the self employed.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 reg.4(2) requires that "As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger".

PATesting alone will not cover all the laws and regulations the aim is to ensure that the equipment is maintained in a safe condition (this includes its environment and use) as well as being electrically sound (PATesting).

I hope the above answers your question.

For more details on the requirements the following regulations apply:

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

Thanks for your enquiry.
