I am using version 9 and I have problems nearly every time I want to insert some text. It doesn't stay horizontal. I checked the direction and it's correct with the arrow pointing down, I'm at a loss how to solve this problem. I never even tried to place the text vertical or upside down, so not sure how I managed to change the settings so it does!
Going from a plain background, I created a rectangle at the top filled in it colour and want to have the text over it.
Anyone can help please??????? I need to finish an advert within the hour :(

the only advice i could give is to get a copy of photoshop and use that, quite hard to get to grips with but is so much better than paint shop pro imho.

I don't like paint shop as I don't understand most of it! But that's all I have at the mo to work from... I tihnk I managed it this time, the text is staying horizontal. No idea why it's happening though.

If you can't afford Photoshop and want a reasonable alternative try GIMP.
It's a open source image editing package. Ok it doesn't have all of the features of photoshop, but I do recommend it to clients when they need a really good app for image editing.
It's available on many different platforms, just give it 10 mins
http://www.gimp.org
Did I mention it can import Paint Shop Pro files and Photoshop.

When you enter text in PSP and hit enter it should be displayed with a box around it so that you can move it or resize it.
To move it you need to put the cursor right in the middle (there should be a small square in the middle). However if you put the cursor onto the rotate box (to the right of the move one) then as you move the cursor then the text will rotate - is this the problem?
If not then there's a default page for text settings in Tools/Options and you may have changed the settings here.......I don't have PSP9 so I don't know if one of the options is to change the orientation of the text.
You seem to have fixed the problem though.

Hi Stockdam
Correct. I didn't really solve it but it seemed that when I clicked on the new rectangle to open the text box, that's when I had the rotate icon. If I clicked anyhere else to add the text, the rotate icon wasn't there. I can then of course move the text wherever I want. If that's it, then I cna live with it

try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
Ive used psp since i was 17 (Woah - 7 years ago now).
Its not as in depth as photoshop but its so much better, i personally think psp 7 was the best it had a lot of features and was very simple but im digressing.
I cant answer the question as ive enver come accross this problem but i would try what i suggested above, i was also suggest avoiding gimp like the plague.
