Hillington based NSDesign, has been short-listed as a finalist in a brand new category at the 6th annual Scottish Software Awards.

The new award "Best Environmental Software Solution" has been introduced to reflect the growing importance of green issues in the development of Scottish software.

The company has been short-listed for the work it has carried out developing a carbon offsetting website for leading Glasgow energy consultant Lumis and for its general approach to environmental issues.

NSDesign’s Managing Director Gary Ennis said:

"This is fantastic news for us and we are really excited to be among the nominees in this new category of awards. The Scottish Software awards are a great platform for the best in Scotland’s software sector to demonstrate their achievements and for us to be up there shows how far the company has come in the last few years.

"This is the second prestigious award we have been nominated for in a matter of months and has really given us a huge boost. Just to be short-listed is great recognition for the work we have been carrying out."

NSDesign provides internet solutions with a wide range of web design, domain registration and hosting products for its customers who include Greenock Morton FC, The Lighthouse (Scotland's Centre for Architecture and Design) and Highland Spring.

Gary said

"As a company we have a strong environmental ethos and partnering with the likes of Lumis allows us to develop the best possible environmental software solutions.

"The environmental initiative we are most proud of is our ‘Go Green’ campaign, which actively encourages our customers to get involved, and help put something back into the environment by planting trees on their behalf.

"Commercially the environmental initiatives and strategies we have been working on have helped contribute to an outstanding year for NSDesign. We have increased our headcount by over 60%, with turnover up by 25% on last year."

The 6th annual Scottish Software Awards will be held at the SAS Radisson in Glasgow on November 28th.
