When we have our website apparantely i am responsible for managing and maintaining etc. I have to go on a 1 day course to learn this.
Is it quite easy? Thanks.

It depends what the content of your 1 day course entails and what you know already about websites. Care to enlighten us?

Err, no. You don't have to go on any course if you don't want to, especially if they are charging you for it.
Assuming the site is for potters meats then there can't possible be anything on the site that will take more than a few minutes to explain.

Oh it says they will also tell me on the day how to market your business through the internet to increase your web presence.

Hiya,
This really depends on what exactly you mean by 'managing your own website'. I would expect your situation to fall into one of these 3 scenarios;
1) Hosted site; Your website is probably hosted on a shared server in a datacentre. You would be responsible for managing the website content (prices, promos etc) remotely. You would not be responsible for daily backups and patching of the server or any hardware maintenance.
2) Virtual Server; You have a 'share' in a server hosted in a datacentre. This would appear to you remotely as a separate machine which you would be responsible for - you would normally have to patch and monitor your server and do your own backups. The host server (the physical server) would be managed by the provider.
3) A dedicated server on your premises or in a datacentre; The website could be hosted in your office, in which case you are responsible for everything! You need to be checking security, patching, UPS testing and DR planning etc yourself. This is the 'cheapest' monthly route, but it also gives you the most work and responsibility.
I wouldn't think you need a days training for options 1 or 2, option 3 would probably need a few hours and some 'hand holding' in the early months.
Actually, thinking about it, the days training could be on the 'Content Management System' used to update your website? That would make more sense.

Well if it's being paid for by the grant then might as well go.
...how to market your business through the internet to increase your web presence.
That doesn't sound right!
What I think they mean is promotiong your website in order to drum up new business.
Are you planning on selling meat online? If not then the website is simply an information resource and is unlikely to bring in much new business.

its called a modx training course if that helps
Modx will be the content management system (cms), the admin system behind your site which allows you to change content, add news items etc. Hopefully it will be easy to pick up, but this can depend upon the cms and obviously some cms's are more difficult to use than others (I don't know about modx so I can't comment on that system).
Hopefully you will find it easy, after all, you have managed to create threads and add posts on this website without a training course, and for basic tasks (e.g. adding a text only news item), easy to use cms's should be similar to this forum. Beyond doing the basic tasks, more powerful cms's will have a learning curve.

how complicated it gets depends mainly on 2 things:
how deep do u want to get?
how good are the teachers (and their tools)?
