The leading figures in the business software industry are dusting off their DJs and evening gowns for the year's great annual celebration at Sift Media's Software Satisfaction Awards 2008.

More than 300 people will turn up at the Brewery in London tonight to find out which of them have won awards in 19 categories covering accounting & finance, customer relationship management (CRM) and HR systems.

The prizes are awarded on the basis of survey responses from Sift Media's professional communities which as well as UK Business Forums include BusinessZone.co.uk, Finance Week, AccountingWEB.co.uk, MyCustomer.com, HRZone.co.uk, TrainingZone.co.uk and KnowledgeBoard.com.

In addition to the main functional categories, the Business Application Software Developers Association has sponsored two additional awards, the Theo van Dort award for the person who has done the most to promote collaboration within the industry and for the first time this year, a Newcomer of the Year Award.

The contenders in this category, selected by judging panel comprising BASDA director-general Jairo Rojas, MyCustomer.com's Stuart Lauchlan and Sift Media technology editor John Stokdyk include Access

Accounting's new Carbon Accounting module, online payroll service provider 12.com, business intelligence software house Adaptive Planning and a group of accounting software as a service developers that made strong claims for recognition this year: e-conomic, Liquid Accounts, Pearl Office and Xero.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony tonight at The Brewery in London. Here is the Accounting & Finance shortlist in full.
