Hi All,

I am thinking of setting up a website for my Bookkeeping services.

I understand I have to pay for the domain name - any recommended sellers?

I believe I then have to get a hosting company to run my website - once again any recommendations? Don't want a huge monthly cost as only a small company, seen some advertising they host for free, is this true or are they a con??

Next the design of the website, just want a 3-4 page site to advertise my services, could I do this myself?? Or will I need to get a web designer to do this for me? If so, what are the rough costs for a basic website??

Final thing, I obviously want vistors to mysite. So I understand google adwords is probably the best things to go for?? Is there a limit on how many search criteria I can include.

A lot of questions I know, all help appreciated!!

Regards,

Michael

Hey Michael,

First things first

Domain name - you look at £5pa for .co.uk £10pa for a .com (roughly) ...i use discount domains uk...you will find them on google no worries

As for hosting i use ehosting...their eSilver Package is only a fiver a month and has everything you will ever need. Dont go with a free host if you can avoid it as with anything in life you get what you pay for....if your not paying anything your going to get about the same in return.

The website itself you could make if you really want. I wouldnt advise it however if you want it doing properly. I wont put a quote up here incase anybody gets annoyed at it but if you want one then feel free to pm me.

Regards

Hi Michael

I can recommend wiser hosting for both domain and host. I used them before we decided to offer our own hosting. I would recommend our service but I suspect it would be more than you require.

The website we can help you out with and a PM has been sent!

I feel you should outsource the web development work to professionals.
There is nothing which comes free. Make sure that you will get all the necessary support in the future also from the hosting side.

Hello Micheal,

When it comes to website hosting, I'm usally with a company called ''Servage''. However - I have had alot of down time with them decently.

As for the web designing, I'm not sure how much you should charge. However - I'm happy to help if you are in need of assistance.

Like I've said in previous posts, I can design the template in Photoshop but I struggle coding it. This is a skill I will be learning over the next few months.

Thanks,

James

I would advise going with a single company (like us!!!) to manage all of this for you.
Basically this allows you to concentrate on your business as opposed to worrying about domains, webhosting and site design.

If you need a quote or some guidance please feel free to drop me pm.
