Hi all,

Just to let you know that I'm involved in a community radio station Reading. We're applying for a full time license at the end of November, and and will be on air during half term (Sat 25th Oct - Sun 2nd Nov) as a trial broadcast. "The Vibe" is a not-for-profit organisation, and is designed to provide "social gain" to the youth of Reading.

The station is aimed at a youth audience (13-25) and will have up and coming talent on air presenting too.

The new youth radio station is designed to:
• Give young people a voice to discuss issues including violence, bullying, anti-social behavior, racism, knife crime and sexual health
• Provide a gateway to learn new skills surrounding broadcasting and to help provide a voice for other local voluntary groups to advertise themselves to encourage youth participation within the local community
• Help nurture new talent such as singers, bands etc. and to help celebrate Reading’s diversity through means of radio

If anyone is near to Reading and is able to offer any support, it would be much appreciated - you'll be associating yourself with a worthwhile project, and we are able to offer on air advertising in return for any help you are able to provide us with.

In particular we need the following:
- Premises to base the studio. We are in negotiations with a couple of venues, but we are looking for 2 or 3 small offices to base our 2 studios. Access would be required from 7am - 10pm each day.

- Marketing material. We need fliers/leaflets, banners and any other marketing materials to take into Reading to let everyone know about the new radio station. If you're able to assist with the printing, we'd be more than happy for you to put your logo on the marketing material.

If you can think of anything else you could assist us with, please let me know.

Also, if you know of any organisations in the Reading area who work with 13-25 year olds who'd like some free airtime to promote their projects/service, let me know!

Yes, have done in the past and am very much aware of Afan FM :)

This project is being run off the back of a very successful project in Watford called Fresh FM.

For those that want an insight into this project and the buzz it creates, you can see how it all went in Watford here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIRIziYkkl0
