I currently have a hostgtor account which is wonderful. Giving me unlimited domain names and hosting for virtually pennies per month

But being US based limits the amount of UK traffic coming my way, so are there any similar options from UK companies that you guys know of?

Nope and I'd not recommend any provider that offers unlimited when it comes to domains, bandwidth or disk space.

You will soon find the services aren't 'unlimited' when you reach a certain level and your sites will start to get really slow when there are thousands of domains being hosted on the servers. Not what you really want for a website that is showcasing your business? :)

Why not use a provider in the UK that offers realistic limits? ;)

Hi Nick

Does it definately restrict the UK traffic? I thought as long as you had a .uk domain, it didn't matter where it was hosted.

I'd be interested in this, as I've got one site on a Uk based host, and a couple on a US host (too early days to spot any difference traffic wise yet)

Thanks for that, not looked into limitations yet as my current websites are just a blog and a small site about writing cv's.

I fully intend to have a specific hosting plan for my actual business, it is for side things and fun sites meant to bring in a few pennies each that I am thinking. I take on board what you mean though for dedicated business sites.

Not sure yet as I messed up a few things when buying the .co.uk so I havent managed to use it as a pointer towards the .net site (I also messed up the .com buying).

I am only going by hearsay, unfortunately it is also too early to see about UK traffic for me. BUT the .net site is ONLY searched by the main google site, NOT the google.co.uk site.

Where you host the site shouldn't effect traffic from other countries, it only has an effect on your google listing on the "uk sites only" option of google.co.uk and only if 1. you don't have the .uk domain and 2. you haven't assigned the country in the google webmaster tools. otherwise it shouldn't make a difference.

As you don't have the .uk domain use the google webmaster tools (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/)to assign your .net domain to be UK-centric. In fact it is probably a good idea to do that anyway even if you do just to be safe.
