Hi Everyone,

I am looking to start up an ecommerce website for the first time. The site would be selling items in small amounts, so i would like to know if there is a system available where i can set up the websitesite to automatically replace an item with another once it has sold out?

If any one could reccomend a system or website designer who could do this?

Thanks for your help

Tony:)

So are you saying you will only have one single item for sale, and as soon as it is sold it is replaced by another?

If not, the normal way is to cross sell. 'out of stock, but consider these alternatives' etc.

Yes in each section of the website i would like to sell one item at a time.

For example product range tshirts (example)
T shirt one (6 to sell)
T shirt two (14 to sell)
T shirt three (3 to sell)

I do not want the customer to see all the items at once, but only to see the next item once the first is sold out.

So I would hope that there would be a system where i could enter all the product info and quantities and the website would automatically replace the item once it has sold?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Tony

You have explained it well, it doesn't make sense , but you have explained it LOL.

it is going to be pretty expensive for one item at a time, but it can be done. I don't know of any shopping cart software that will do this, in fact I am not sure you even need shopping cart software as such.

How are people going to be paying you?

Well at least i have explained it. lol.

I wanted it because the items i am selling are in small quantities and i dont want to have a website that has lots of sold out items on display.

With regards to the payment, i would want them to pay online via some system maybe paypal or worldpay, but i haven't reasearched them yet.

Thanks for your help, maybe some one else will come up with a solution, i have tried googling some phrases, but no luck so far.

If you don't want lots of sold out items on display then it would make more sense to show all the items but get a system that automatically takes items off once they are sold out. I'd of thought many systems will do that out of the box!

Personally (and this is just my humble opinion), but I like to have choice on an e-commerce website. I think I would be frustrated if I only had one product to choose from. Chances of that product being something I like enough to buy would be quite slim (i'm a fussy beggar) :)

Hi nublue,

Yes this might be an option.

I thought that there would be a system out there that could replace sold out items with a new item? Do you think this would be part of a shopping cart system or some kind of stock control program?

Hi every one,

Firstly thanks for all your help today!

I think we have found a solution, I have been told that there is a PhP script which i can buy and then get a website designer to include this in the site.

Are there any website designers around who could do this???

Thanks

Tony

If you know of such php script, please let us know the details about it this will better allow us to tell you if we can do this.

We are able to build either custom (from scratch) or customize current ecommerce solutions for you without breaking the bank.
