Same place as last time as it worked well for parking and was fairly central for people... Vote if you fancy meeting a few of the guys from here.

Count me in please Maria.

BTW, why is that bar so called? I couldn't see any reference to Mark Lamarr?

This is like playing hunt the thimble!

I have said yes and all being well crossed fingers and all that, it should happen, I hope, perhaps, maybe!!!

(Well if I say it often enough, it should happen!)

Exec-U-Travel

Curry - yeah !!!!!

Lass, I'm not giving you my address, young lady - you'll come round & nick my washing!

Oh, for the venue you mean? It is called Lamarr's, and is at Fourways House, 57, Hilton St, Manchester, Lancashire M1 2EJ (in the area loosely called 'Northern Quarter' or Picaddilly Basin). It's right behind the ILVA, if you know it? If you look back for the NW Forum post from last meet, I posted some directions etc. Maria also posted a link to their website..

There is no age limit - We let Oasis go last time and he is really old ..only joking Rich

You need to be old enough to get into a pub if that's what you mean? and looking at your profile, I think you mentioned being around 16?

Hiya,

We're both up for this again, and this time we will stay for something to eat, really miffed to have missed out last time but had to catch the train home. Can we eat a bit earlier this time, pretty please. :)

Hi Richard

I'm at the infuriating stage of not being able to do much but have lots still to do, if you know what I mean! I'll PM you an update :)

Maria,

Have you an opening date, or is it too early for that as yet, are you still in the marketing/creative/refurbing/styling stage?

Hope it's all moving along swimmingly - at least as much as can be expected, or done... :)

We are still in the sorting out the lease stage...creative stage, which a lot of things hang on where the shop is....working out the budget and feel frustated at wanting to just dive in!

Gillie, I have started to think if I was ever stranded on a desert island, I want you with me! You just always sound so capable! Multi-lingual, practical, straight-forward, finances (god knows what currency we would be dealing with), no dressey stuff (so we wouldn't have my problem with heels) oh and you're tall....plus your kids are sporty. We'd be fine :)....

Gillie
31st July 2008, 22:11
Oh ecky thump!! And that from someone who aint local to Lancs as well!!

It has been known for me to wear skirts and dresses when my arm is high enough up my back, and even heels ... but then I am far too tall with heels on, over 6 foot, so my excuse is that I have to be around very tall men, and the only place I find them is in Norn Iron!! Strange that!!

You will find me out of choice wearing jeans and red converse ... thats usually how you can tell its me!

Shimla Pinks is the other side of town, its was just the best place I knew that did curry - maybe i will rethink :|

I get a nightly fireman's lift to bed just so he can keep up the practice. So just name the time and place Gillie and Ray'll be there.

Ps. thanks for clearing up the confusion, I was scratching my head wondering what an "EX" was.

Good oh, when Sean catches up he may well be able to recommend where to eat, I've had a look at indian restaurants as a request from Rich, just need Sean to point us which is closest to Lamarr's :|

Now then, now then. Apologies for not replying earlier, been off-radar a bit of late, hope it's not too short notice to sort.

BTW Maria, onionring? Thought that was a bit of slang I'd not heard of

Right, restaurants - Shimla Pinks is well recommended, but it's a bit away - nearer to Lamarrs is Princess St, which puts us in Hannan (sp?) and EastZeast (this one is actually under the Ibis hotel). Can't personally recommend either although I've heard off a few people EastZeast is worth a visit, and seems to have won a few awards...

http://www.manchester.com/restaurants/cuisine/15/Indian.html

http://www.eastzeast.com/ (http://www.eastzeast.com/)

Not sure on typical prices, needless to say there's cheaper around but these seem to fit the criteria of being local enough (5 mins or so in taxi) to Lamarrs, yet big enough to have something about them on t'internet to check beforehand.

Can I put a request in for next time to go to the Brazilian restaurant next to the comedy venue. Not that I want to eat there, just want to see the waitresses in their famed national attire. :D

BTW Andy, Gilly, if you need a lift let me know, texting is best. Will only be in the deadlegger car tomoz so don't be getting hopes up. Dependent on numbers MAY be able to offer lifts between restaurant to Lamarrs after, but 4 pass at a time. Yes, I know I'm a good soul

BTW M,have you been here yet? Supposedly seriously cool and funky, right up your street - be able to tell your customers all about it. Hoping go soon myself.....

Hey Kerry, sorry to hear you can't make it, hope see you on the next one? I'd be swotting up on my SEO lingo to sound clever too, piffle.

Maria, Rich - not sure which way round tis supposed to be, did think someone had asked to eat earlier, which I guessed meant before Lamarrs? God knows! Hey, I'm easy, we will make plans to be there 1830 for 1900, just let me know by PM where 'there' is?

Righto, it was Kerry that requested eating earlier; so the proposal is 6.30 -7 at Lamarrs, then to the restaurant for 7.30

Clearly, you're behind daaarling!

They will probably bill it as Sport City, but it's Newton Heath - I've probably still lost you....it's near Man City's new football ground, the velodrome etc. It's actually about a kilometre from where an area they used to re-create Belfast in the 70s for the Bloody Sunday drama - shows how much Manc is regenerating I guess.

Do you read the manchizzle blog? Just found it this morning, he's blogged on a few eating places around our neck of t'woods.

http://manchizzle.blogspot.com/

BTW I think it should be our goal to have a UKBF meetup in Vermillion; methinks we may need to swell our core support & our business revenue somewhat, but what are goals for?

Ah, I know where it is (I'm surprised I haven't bored you with how I worked at the commonwealth games) and I think its been given some fancy name like the East Village....I'm going to try and go over the weekend if I can.
