Sounds interesting but what is the benefit of an all-woman organisation. I assume there is a men in rural enterprise..although MIRE..doesn't sound so good!

Hi,
I'm a member of the York group and its a relaxing and sociable way to meet other women business owners - particularly good if you work on your own or in a small organisation.
If you are looking for networking purely as a lead generation exercise its probably not for you but if you want to meet like-minded people for support and discussion its great.

Hi - WIRE is a national organisation and there are meetings held all over the country
The best thing to do is to look at the website wireuk.org and go to WIRE local networks and this will tell you which ones are most local to you.
Hope this helps

This thread is totally sexist. I think I'm going to have to take WIRE to court for sexual discrimination.

It's not quite as simple as that, is it, Chippie? As women we have to endure living in a patriarchal society. In many cultures women are still seriously oppressed. And in Western culture women are not equal, are not paid equally and do not have the same opportunities as men. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. It's a fact. For as long as modern society has existed in England it has been not only acceptable but almost expected for men to be part of male only clubs and organisations in business. The masons are a perfect example. They still have a huge influence in business and they are a male only organisation.
As I say on my blog:
"In 1905 Emmeline Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union and spearheaded the Suffragette movement, but despite the fact that women have more freedom than a hundred years ago we still live in a patriarchal society. Men are free to be good-looking, intelligent, talented and outspoken without being sneered at, denigrated, labelled or vilified. Women have the right to this freedom too."
I am personally not inclined to join any group that excludes any member of society. But for you to jump on this group of women as you have is not the mark of a gentleman. Love.
And putting a wink on the thread doesn't let you off the hook.
