Sorry for the wordy title.

I have an idea for a website, and I would be looking to use the services on a web designer with experience of some of these specifics:

-ability for users to register
-ability for advertisers to advertise their content (including perhaps the ability to self-edit) and for click-through links to be monitored
-ability for links a user has clicked on to be logged
-ability for users to be grouped if they desire (for example, by employer).

This website would offer an essential service to professionals.

Initially, I would like to have a quick telephone conversation with someone who can tell me whether my idea is plausible, and perhaps to give an idea of development costs.

Fyi, I work as an accountant and project manager; and have worked on web development projects before, just never one I have funded!

Thanks
James

Hi James,

One question - When you say " This website would offer an essential service to professionals." what do you mean?

Will it be an source of info website or have other services etc?

Hi, James, there are a couple of possible approaches to that. I'd be happy to talk it through with you. Also, I'm just down the road from you, too, so it would be easy enough to meet and go through in more detail if the initial phone conversation is fruitful.

<edit: I like titles which give at least some clue of what the topic is about. I rarely get as far as opening the all too widespread and brain dead such as "newbie here" and "help needed" without given so much as a hint as to the content, so no need to apologise as far as I'm concerned. />

Without trying to give too much away, I have spotted a gap in the market - for example if the profession was dustbin-men, the website might feature sources of where to get the best gloves.

Its nothing too revolutionary - but it is something that this profession has essentially no offerings, but where other professions have a couple of alternatives at least (sorry if I'm being too cryptic).
