My daughter has worked for a popular retail shop for the past seven years. She has only ever worked four hours on a saturday as she has other full time work.
The shop is not renewing its lease and will close in 18 months time. There are several other branches nearby and my daughter has been told she can be transferred, but would have to do more hours, including evenings.
She cannot do more hours. Can anyone tell me where she stands. Would she be entitled to redundancy for the length of time she has worked there even tho only four hours a week.
Would appreciate any advice, thanku.

With a redundancy situation the employer has to consult with employees and explore ways of avoiding redundancy. One way is to offer suitable alternative employment. It would appear that what they offer could be deemed to be not a suitable alternative as more hours are involved, in which case your daughter would be entitled to a redundancy payment unless another alternative could be discussed.
