My wife has had a Franchise for two years and wants to leave because every time she has a problem and contacts the Franchisor she gets told there is nothing they can do and to sort it out herself, yet she is paying them £500 a month for thre management expertise etc.
My question is what penalties are there if she leaves and carrys on her business with out the Franciseor?
thanks for your time and help.

Sorry to hear you're both having problems with this.
I would have thought that every franchise agreement has its own specifics, and you would be best to check direct with the franchisor for its penalties, or refer back to your original contract with them.
I would have thought the Franchisor would take a dim view of her leaving the franchise and continuing the same trade without them, but there must be some kind of detail on how to leave in the contract.
With regards to the acutal problems she is having with the Franchisor, perhaps a letter explaining that she feels let down, is not receiving the support expected, and ask for clarification as to whether the problems are indeed something they should be helping her with, or not. If not, can they suggest anything? Perhaps some questions here on UKBF may turn up some answers to the problems she is having.
Best of luck :)

Your wife will need to take legal advice on the contents of the agreement and the termination conditions. Many are very restrictive and leaving the franchise often involves franchisee loss. This is a service we offer, please email the agreement over to us and we will provide initial observations and a quote for the work.
