If i use zen cart, what payments will i be able to accept and use? I've heard that to take credit card payments i will have to open a business bank account and other issues, is this true? Any help in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you can use Paypal and Google Checkout. However, if you want to accept cards you will need a Business Bank Account/Merchant Account and a Payment Gateway. I am no expert but that's what I know from trying to build a site for myself.

QG's already mentioned what I've said, so I'm editing this. Just add Nochex as another you don't need a merchant account with. There are probably others.

You should be really opening a business bank account anyway, makes dealing with your accounts a whole lot easier. Also you bank could, in theory , start charging you business rates and they can backdate it too if they suspect you are running yourpersonal account as a business account. Its not that hard to obtain a business account, as long as you have ID etc..

I already have a personal account for keeping track of my business side of things going in and out, what is the difference between a normal and business account and what could i/should i get charged for?

Are merchant and business bank accounts the same, and if not are merchant accounts hard to get? And lastly what is a payment gateway, is it just another company that specializes in handling and processing of the card details that i'm not legally allowed to do?
