Does any know which PSP’s have the best reliability? I currently use Worldpay but I can’t put up with the terrible management system. Any suggestions / experiences would be great.

Know the feeling, I loved Worldpay before the changes but now its a nightmare, and the worst thing they could have done to a previously good service - pity they dont read the threads on here and do something about the travesty they have created with the new update.

Personally I think Protx is going to benefit no end now, and my likely next choice!

I am just in the process of setting up using Protx (infact I go fully live tommorow) and have found it very user friendly and customer support very helpfull.

Please explain what you mean by reliable. Speed of payment to the trader? Support against questionable chargeback claims? Are you asserting some don't actually pay you at all?

Quality in the mind of traders seems to depend upon the average ticket price of what you're selling. The lower end all seem to have their problems - Paypal, Nochex, for instance - but at the higher end it's harder to get an account in the first place and the charges are seemingly prohibitive for the new trader. Fine if you can show a proven track record and the higher end, on the whole, have policies which are coherent and easy to work with.

Barclays and Streamline seem to have moved into contention among my clients, whereas a couple of years ago they were considered too expensive. Worldpay have been going down steadily over at least three years. SecPay are still highly regarded by techies and clients alike as a payment gateway.

There are so many of them and their relative offers change over time. It appears to be worth shopping around, if you have been trading long enough and successfully enough to have options, avoid lock-ins and don't be afraid to switch when the time is right.

Sadly for most new traders, they raise this question in high expectations only to find their options are very limited anyway.

Thanks for your replies.
My main concerns are processing ‘up time’ I find it very frustrating when our customers go through all of the shopping process only to be turned away by the fact that the PSP isn’t working. I have been with Worldpay for just over 4 years and although not fantastic I can live with their ‘up time’ but I don’t want to go any ware worse. I now want to leave Worldpay as I hate their management system and I am using this as an opportunity to reduce my rates further. Protx seems interesting at 10p per transaction but I have read quite a few reports that their system fails, is this true? Another concern is that if I use a small PSP are they less prone to be able to handle a ‘DOS’ attack?
