Anyone had any experience with this http://www.holbi.co.uk/modules-for-oscommerce/product/item/oscommerce-connector-for-sage-line-50/

I have been given a link by a customer, and am currently looking into it.

The main things I am interested in:

1) Does it work
2) Is it as simple as it says on the site
3) Any potential pitfalls/problems
4) Any other comments

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Haven't had any experience with the software in question, but I am looking at connecting up a copy of OSCommerce to Sage myself (although it's Sage Instant Accounting, and not Line 50).

I had a look through the osCommerce repository and found this:

Don't know how good it is, or if it's worth developing further.

There are actually quite a lot of alternatives to the one you posted (After all, interconnectability between the back office and the front of house is a great facility!), here's another potential solution: http://www.net1osc.com/

I also found someone (who I THINK) is using the software you are interested in, the forum link is here: http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=222443

Good luck! And do tell me how it goes! :)

Hi again! :D

It appears that most of the software that is free generates XML/CSV files compatible with sage. The paid software is the clever bit that updates Sage for you with these files (whereas the free software doesn't do this, and leaves the updating of Sage in the hands of the user)

Having said that... it will only take a few clicks to update Sage with the new data, so is it really worth it splashing out on the software to do this? I dunno :D

I think the client would be happy to pay for a piece of software, but I am loathe to recommend one until I am sure it works well enough.

I'll get another look into this later in the week, and see what the concensus is online.
