I’m looking to move the technical support and hosting of my existing site (http://www.beejewelled.co.uk) and would really appreciate some recommendations. There are some changes required on the site e.g.
-search engine friendly URL’s - install the ULTIMATE SEO URLs
- a blog/article page
- an ‘opt-in’ on home page
- improvements to the links page
- improved access to admin pages
Thanks
Lou

How do you want to improve the link & admin pages?

Indeed. What you want is straightforward but what do you mean by "improved" admin access?

On the links page i want to be able to group similar themed links under one heading wih only the headings showing on the links page and associated links opening in another page.

On the admin pages I'm looking to have more access to the content on the website to allow easy updates e.g. i have access to the home page but some text I cannot change however, i can change/create page title etc but on my products page I have no ability to add text, title tags etc.

It seems to me, but I could be wrong, you haven't found your way around the admin section properly. You should be able to do all of that quite easily already. PM either Carl or me with a phone number. I'm sure we can talk you through that bit, at least.

I prefer to talk with people. Ask Carl first if he prefers to do it by email or IM or other means. Also, I had a look at the Ultimate SEO URLs module. It looks to me to be playing with the DNS settings. In my opinion, that's not as good as setting mod_rewrite to do the job.

Sounds easy, you will want the Links Manager for your links pages as this will allow you to create categories for you to add links to each one.

Ultimate SEO URL's are fairly good, I use it on my clients websites although as for as I can tell it is mod_rewrite because its not yet been done for Windows (could be wrong but I couldn't find a solution) and also you have to do mod_rewrite for the htaccess file.

You will want the articles manager, I've not installed it on a live website but have on a test website and it seems pretty good.

You say you want opt-in option on your home page, do you mean for your newsletter? If so I have only found 1 newsletter option like this for osCommerce which adds a box to the website where the customer can submit their email address.

As for hosting Carl is the man! I've got a number of clients website hosted with him and not 1 complaint!!

If you need any help your more then welcome to PM me or email me.

The opt-in is for a monthly competition with a changable monthly priz3. I will need access to change the prize and obviously the ability to collate the e-mail addresses.

i will pm you with details.
