Ok at a bit of crossroads and would like to get a few opinions....

I have a designer clothing site which ranks really well in the SE’s. It does get a lot of traffic and at the moment I’ve got Adsense and a few affiliate links on the site which gives me some beer money. However in the next 3 months I want to make a firm decision in regards to the future of this site.

I think I have 3 options which are:

·Sell the site. I have worked over a yr on the SEO (I work for a marketing company as an SEO) on this site. The website is a bit crap and could do with a redesign however someone could take over this site and sell products straight away. One guy who site ranks really well for designer clothing terms did show interest however I have not heard back from him.

·Set the site up myself, it needs a redesign which I could get very cheaply and I also have knowledge of suppliers and a really good knowledge of the market. However I would need to go to the bank and get a loan of approx £20,000. Also need to go part time in work if possible.

· Look for an investor (50%) to the tune of £20k. However I would want a term written in the contract which would say I could buy them out within 1.5 years for 100% return (£40k) on investment.
At the moment I am really considering looking for an investor. What do you guys think?

cheers guys :)

Does the website make any money at the moment (from actual clothing sales)?

It does not currently have any clothes on the site at the moment.

It has affiliate links to other designer clothing merchants and adsense which generates a few hundred a month.

Thats not a bad revenue for an affiliate shop, have you thought about adding a line or two of your own products using limited investment to see if your visitor numbers justify expanding into stock holding retail?

This is something I am thinking of doing. I could maybe buy a few lines and see how it goes.

You say your site is getting traffic..how much?

Rather than getting an invester why not do a little dropshipping?
Im sure you are probably aware but i will give a brief description for others.
Basically you advertise the item for whatever price you want to sell at, a buyer buys it off you and then you make the same order to the dropshipper meaning you make x amount of money, no investment needed.

I used to run a few clothes sites and make a small amount of money by dropshipping, but i never had enough traffic to make a living out of it. Personally although it may take you longer to become established you are saving yourself £20k which is a LOT of money. If i was investing £20k i would rather do it in bricks and morter (no matter how shaky it is at the minute).

Thats another option for you anyway, sorry to make your decisions harder but i would rather do that and maybe get a £3k bank loan and do some advertising that way.
