As someone who's been self employed in the UK now for over 8 years and a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to computing, IT and the web, I'm feeling somewhat red faced after discovering that my recent sign-up to Nochex on one of their merchant accounts may not have been quite so well thought out. :eek:
That aside I'm going to put a fresh face on things and hopefully get a chance to provide a more up to date view on how things are.
Somewhat ironic then that my first comments relate to the documentation..
It's confusing, contradictory and in places plain wrong. Trying to get the APC (equiv' to the Paypal IPN) to work requires a lot of reading and re-reading to garner the clues required.
For example... responderurl is no longer used... it's callback_url... oh and it doesn't work if you set it on the merchantid control panel... nope, you have to put it into the actual form as a hidden form field or _GET request. Neither of which is ideal but it immediately clues script kiddies and other malcontents as to where your auto-handling code lives so they can target it. :(
The fact that the forum was closed, not great, the knowledgebase being so incredibly out of date, eugggggh!... but I've made my comments, I'll be continuing to do so and if they get ignored I'll be walking and rueing the day I spent £50 without looking where I leapt.. Mother was right! :redface:
It's not been all bad... Communication to date has been pretty positive and fast and I do have an account manager to deal with direct so perhaps things will improve..
Anyhoo, I'll keep you posted... and yes, before you ask... Googlecheckout is getting a new look see as we speak... Why I didn't think of it before?... Dunno... total rectal encephalitis style stupidity? Could well be... :redface:
