Hi

We run a sailing school in Greece and have a Greek company. We want to expand into a slightly different sphere and offer powerboat day trips, lessons, and holidays including hotel and renting a RIB.

I've discovered that we cannot do this with our existing company which cannot own any boat less than 7m and has various other restrictions on it. We are trying to set up a new company but it is so complicated. We can set up a company that can do day trips but it can't offer ribs for hire. At the moment it looks as if we may have to have three different companies & it is all driving me nuts!

I am wondering if it would be easier to set up a UK company to do what we want? If it is possible how would we go about it, and are there any problems trading in Greece with a British company?

My husband and I own the current company, we are both British although non resident in the UK. We both pay small amounts of UK tax. Would we have to pay tax on our income in both the UK and Greece?

Th emajority of our clients are from the UK also.

Is there anyone on here who has experience of British companies trading in the EU?

I'm coming to the Cambridge area next week so I'd be particularly keen to hear from anyone based in that area.

Many thanks

Melody

It's quite possible to set up a UK company to receive the income of a business in Greece but it will pay corporation tax here, subject to any exemptions/allowances etc. I have set up and run several UK companies for clients in Europe (I am a company secretary) and have an accountant who deals with the statutory accounts and tax matters. If you wish to look into this further please contact me and we can go through things and I will run it pass my accountant also.

Thanks a lot. I'm interested in discussing this further with you but cannot see any contact details to send you a PM. Do you want to contact me by message or email from our website?

Thanks

Sorry - thought I'd wait and see if you replied first. Didn't want to appear pushy. I can't post my email here but will send thru your web site. My number is 07903 370311. If you can send me some more details about the setup that would be useful or call to discuss.
