Not sure if this is in the right location but we have an overseas client who wants to pay by Paypal but at 3% we will be skinned alive with fees! We do not want to set up a payment system on our own website unless its a last resort and like the easy of paypal but does anyone know of anything else that isn't as expensive and can be set up quickly as he wants to make payment ASAP!?

It depends on the value of the transaction. International bank transfers are the standard method of transferring money, but they are not free. You'll be charged around £20 per transaction, and the exchange rate is rarely favourable.
Don't underestimate the value of PayPal for business - we are finding more and more businesses using it for payments under ~£1000.

agree with sysops.
paypal isn't that bad when dealing with transactions from
overseas.
other than paypal i normally do bank transfers or receive them
and that takes time to clear plus the charges are high.
with most companies accepting paypal through from their
customers its easy for cash flow to use as well.

have you looked at google checkout?
I'm not entirely sure how this works on international orders, but I think it's 1.5% and is reduced even further if you are doing add words.
Have a look here (https://checkout.google.com/seller/features.html?hl=en&gl=GB)
Hope that is helpful.

Thanks guys, I decided to go with Google checkout due to the lower % charge. Client was wanting Paypal as it was so easy for him so hopefully Google Checkout will fit the bill!

I'd steer well clear of Nochex - just search this forum (and others) for an idea of the customer service they provide.

we can set up a visa credit account for you. Its a specialist account you can pay direct from your bank account onto a visa card debit card that is tied to another bank account.

I love the phrase 'skinned alive'!
If the client chooses Paypal and you are not happy with the 3%, add a surcharge for the use of Paypal - it is not uncommon, however, I would not choose to do it.
Re bank transfers, with a charge of £20 per transaction, that is equivalent to a Paypal transaction of £666, so if it is less than £666, Paypal will be cheaper! If your bank charges more, that figure increses (e.g. £25=£833).
If you have a business bank acount and receive a cheque for £10, do you think you are being skinned alive for the £0.50 (or whatever) fee for that cheque?
