Do any of you guys use affiliate marketing to any great success?

We used affiliate marketing for 18 months whilst running an online fashion business a while back. I would say the investment in the affiliate scheme probably just about paid for itself, not in immediate monetary terms but through a steady increase in orders and a huge surge in visitor numbers and in-bound links, resulting in more marketable additions to our shop membership lists through competition sign-ups and a better search engine position.

Would I recommend it to another? Yes if you can afford the cost but treat it as a medium term investment and don't be surprised if the income does not match the ongoing costs... if you can capture more visitor details through competitions and other promotions, it might just pay for itself.

Interestingly, an ex-employee of ASOS.com once told me that they reached 20% of all orders through affiliates before they stopped using them :eek:

It is quite hard to make much on it but if you have a lot of visitors to your site then you should try it

Thats what is putting me off going with paidonresults, high set up costs and monthly fees, but I suppose they have a lot of affiliates for the merchants.

To be honest, this site is fairly wide-ranging and so I searched for relevant topics to the affiliate marketing industry (I typed in 'affiliate' in the search box being an imaginative creature!

I just checked the dates and I see how it looks, so apologies if it looks spammy (I will also advise without reference to what I do where I can!).
