Hi all,

As mentioned previously I'm setting up a new golf tours company based exclusively in the UK. I've been trying to get a merchant bank account and as my general business acccount is with Barclays I thought I'd try to get a merchant account with them. However, as my company is within the travel and tourism sector I was advised that I required a bond prior to being issued with a merchant account. The problem is, due to the size of my company it is not possible for me to join one of the travel industry governing bodies (ABTA etc) and therefore am unable to 'get bonded'. Does anyone have any ideas how I get around this or know of any companies that would be able to assist me in getting a merchant account.

many thanks,

Glenn

Have you tried Worldpay? They might well set you up. You also get a virtual terminal which means you can take phone payments.

Hi Glenn,

Fire over details of your company and what you do to contact @ openmindedsolutions.co.uk and I'll see what I can do for you.

You need to include info such as your turnover (or projected) % spent on cards, full info on the products you want to take CC payments for etc...

Give me a call on 08456 445 789 if you're unsure :)

Check out the TTA, they will allow you to trade under their licences etc, so you will be able to get payment processing facilities etc.

There site is http://www.traveltrust.co.uk/

Why not use PayPal virtual terminal?

It is free to set up, (you pay % of the transaction) and will let you accept payments by phone, fax email etc.

You just type in the customer's card details to an online thing, and it does it for you

I think its great.

I cant post a link becuase I'm a newbie, just google it and you'll find it.

We use PROTX, works well for accepting payments online and on phone.
