Hi

My website the-life-doctor.com (i wasnt allowed to put full link) has been online since December. I have had nice comments on the site but its low in the page rankings and not generating as much business as I hoped. I have been paying quite alot to google adwords for an ad that appears and disappears.

I have had lots of advice so far on SEO but its seems to have reached a plateau on where it is ranked.

Also if you were looking for the therapies I offer, does the site contain the information you require?

You opinions and comments are most welcome

Thanks

Ok shoot me if I'm wrong but from what I can see above! You purchased the domain on 2007-08-07 when did you launch the domain? Don't forget the google sandbox.. you wont get released on any competitive words between 6 and 24 months expand on your keywords

<meta name="keywords" content="hypnotherapy, hypnosis, hypnotherapist, eft, nlp, brighton, reiki, emotrance" />

For Yahoo and MSN

Add a blog update it daily get it flowing, google loves unique content, hyperlink content with anchor text to your own website.

And so on......

I launched the site originally with my own design which was awful. The new site came online fully in December after it was redesigned by a web designer. Something is still incorrect with the content.
can you expand on the Google sandbox? Ive not heard of that term before.

Hello Fyre,

Google sandbox the joy

Try this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_Effect

Basically you need trust, age. can't escape it.. Been working recently with clients who have experienced it.

Thanks for that, I have read about some ways to beat it, but as usual its in IT language which doesnt help me.
I will approach some SEO companies to see if they can help.
Cheers!

Paul, re. your site. Love it. If I was going for something that you offer, your site would inspire me. Pic of you? on the home page really lifts it..

I thought it was a little 1990's why shouldn't he push it and put a video on instead of a pic?

Looks a little dated to me..

Is KeywordDiscovery a pay per month only subscription?

Hypnosis is proven to work in many areas, they have used it for operations instead of anaesthetic and the studies show that patients report less pain, sickness and complications afterwards.

Your mind is influenced daily on a subconscious level, hence why marketing can be very effective if done correctly.

I love hypnotherapy as I find with clients that it really does work to change habits or relieve stress and anxiety.

Give it a go!

no you should just have to register to use it.

I think I will stick with psychoanalysis for this week which strange as it may seem I use quite a lot in my SEO work.;)

Different things work well for different people.

No luck on the site you recommended as it wants $69.

Depends how you do it, and what your selling. I think it would be classed as direct sales. Get people to your website and then suggest a video for more detail.. bring your website to life a little?

What i think might offend, what i think is loose the blue and sun and feather, feels like I'm going to die... as such... I know its probably not what you want to here but that's how i feel?

That's my honest opinion

To put the cat amongst the pigeons, I wouldn't add a video - just my 2 cents.

how many visitors are you getting per day/month?

James.

I'd love to give hypnotherapy a go but never got round to it (procrastination and/or fear of the unknown - see what hypnosis could do for me!) although I'm skeptical about the other bits. Maybe a link to further info / case studies would help to dispel the doubters like me?

I liked the content bit of your site but I wasn't so sure about the "sunburst" type of thing going on, a bit like a shining revelation from the heavens... I also think lose the feather, what's it meant to denote? Love the photo of you, nice kindly face, think it's a very friendly and approachable type of image which would lead people to trust you. Couldn't help but be drawn to the bright gold spot above your head though, and the dado rail at head height makes me think you may be a midget :D

I have been thinking about EFT for ages and spend weekends in Sussex quite near to Brighton; I like your site, I think the photo makes you look very approachable, and it's all very clear with no jargon or over selling sort of language, which always puts me off. And no spelling mistakes that I can see, which always REALLY puts me off!

Anyway, I'm favouritising your site; I agree about being drawn to things and since I've been considering EFT for a while now it kind of seems like a sign! I'm not very good at the technical side of things but from a potential customer's point of view I think it works. When I'm looking for something specific I don't want to trawl through loads of text or sales pitches, I just want to see what's available, how much it costs and some background information, all of which is there.

I didn't actually notice the feather til it was pointed out, but I wouldn't get rid of all the images, it'll look too home made and plain.

I love your site, really calming and having the picture gives it a personal touch, which I think this subject needs.

Good Luck with everything

Nice peaceful site Paul :)

Not 100% struck on the banner logo myself, I like the clouds but not the feather and I would personally have the banner clickable so that it returns you to the homepage.

The overall content of the site looks good plenty of explanation on the areas you cover and how they help someone so I can't spot anything obvious that would be well served by additional articles pages (although if there are any that add additional support and credence to your work then they would always be useful to add on an articles page).

I can't see a links page? I know there are varying opinions on ukbf about links but I have found that having a links page with relevant links to sites has helped and particularly helped in the early days when the site was new, I also get traffic from other sites through the ones I link to, so I'm an advocate for links but always stipulate that they have to be a relevant & related industry and have a good link neighbourhood themselves (i.e they also don't link to irrelevant rubbish) I also use my link page for relevant courses, shows etc that relate to my business and have found that my customers find this very useful and also that someone searching for those items will also come on my site and then become a customer.

Someone with more experience on tags etc could probably elaborate further, but looking at yours I did notice you don't have all of the areas you cover listed and there does seem to be room for plenty more keywords to be added that would be of relevance.

<title>Brighton Hypnotherapist – Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, EFT, NLP</title>
<meta name="description" content="The Life Doctor is a Hypnotherapy therapy practice based in Brighton and Hove city centre. Accredited by the National Regulatory Register for Hypnotherapy" />
<meta name="keywords" content="hypnotherapy, hypnosis, hypnotherapist, eft, nlp, brighton, reiki, emotrance" />

Again a personal preference, but as the content of your homepage goes a little below the fold it would look perhaps better if the header and footer were reduced so that everything fitted on the screen rather than people having to scroll down but then not finding much of relevance when they do - just a visual preference, thats all.

I use web CEO to review my sites and then work hard to meet the recomendations. One thing that works well for us at shopcreator is:

1) actually selling what we are optimised on!!!
2) We have a lot of sites that refer to us
3) We keep things very simple on the site and focus on selling only one thing

Basic rules apply tho'

- Get your product in your URL
- Get your meta data focussed only on the terms you want to show up on searches for
- Make sure your search term is in your site header
- Make sure all your images contain the search term you are optimising for
- Make sure the search term is the first and last thing you mention on your front page and that it is weighted well in your site content (but not repeated over and over agian!)
- Avoid using stop words like and/or/is etc in meta data
- get those links - speak to bloggers etc about your site and try to get them to link back to you.

Hope this helps
