Situation for me at the moment is that I have a business in a service industry based on 2 sites in Wolverhampton and Telford which are run by managers. My input in the business amounts to around 2 hrs a day and even then not every day and that's it. I never ever have to work weekends or bank holidays. The business gives us a very nice income and an extremely comfortable standard of living, lots of holidays, etc.

Now, the question is this. With all this time on my hands I really fancy setting up an e-commerce business but really don't know what to specialise in. I would like it to be retail, but what types of products sell best? If storage is needed that's no problem as both my premises have an upstairs floor with 2 large rooms in each which are currently unused. I have an abundance of computer hardware to use, a good working knowledge of accounting software and bags of enthusiasm. BUT, at the moment I feel a bit like I did 10 years ago before I set up my current business, in other words, very very frustrated because I can't seem to narrow down what it is I would like to retail!!!

What are your thoughts? Or, is this such a personal thing that only I can decide? Whatever your feelings any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Regards to all

Paul

Best bit of advice? Sell something you have a genuine interest in. Could be sports stuff, martial arts, stamp collecting! If you have knowledge and interest in what you sell, your motivation is easier to come by, very important especially in those first few weeks when your standing outside your virtual shop front batting the tumble weeds away and wondering where your first customer is coming from.
