Hi, I'm running a computer repair company based in Kent/SE London and mostly use a bike or public transport to get the location. I only use a car if I have parts to collect or deliver. If anyone out there is interested in a green computer tech in kent speak up! I also recycle computers, laptops and parts I sell some and pass others on to charity so they can benefit from it. My carbon footprint is very small and things that can be recycled are.

Hi Adam,
Welcome aboard - interesting business you have there - I think there was a thread about how to get your old PC's meaningfully recycled recently - maybe worth searching for it

RayB, was looking at your website for leaflets and business cards as mine need updating. You might have a small sale coming up!

Adam,
I respect your principles. Take a look at the WEEE directive on sites like letsrecycle.com.
Unfortunately the reality seems to be that second hand equipment has such little worth in comparison to labour rates for dismantling that nobody bothers unless there are rare or expensive materials involved.
What components are you hoping to salvage/supply?

Shame you're so far away! I suspect London is the only place with a high enough density of computers so that a bike is viable but by heavens I hope I'm wrong!
We have a computer supplier near us who sells Frankinstein machines out of what he's salvaged and does a good trade in them so you might be on to something.

Have you considered adding cellphones to your recycling business? I've heard that's good too and one can extract some precious metals from them.
