I see that recycle.co.uk has just been bought (http://www.businesszone.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=175669&d=1095&h=1097&f=1096&dateformat=%o-%B-%Y) by a venture capital company for £150,000! Certainly indicates that many businesses believe they can make money out of the public's concerns for the environment!

Yowsa, that is quite a sum for a freebie site - good domain name though.
I hear what you say - it indicates that "green" and "business" are becoming more entwined

I know the guy who sold it, and also know the guy who bought it - I think they both got a good deal!
Good generic .uk domains are selling for more and more -
mobile.co.uk - £120k
taste.co.uk - £110k
fly.co.uk - £87,500
Good money to be made!

120K for mobile.co.uk and it leads to a blank page, nice investment so far.
110K (thought it went for 120 to sainsburies in 1997, has it been sold on since?) for taste.co.uk - Cant load page, server taking too long to respond.. Nice investment so far....
87.5K for fly.co.uk and its a plain, under construction page, nice investment so far.
Do these people have more money than sense, spending this much on domains, .co.uk ones at that when most people use .com and then doing nothing with them? Not even a decent landing page...
Are they just trying to artifically drive up the prices of .co.uk domains to boost their portfolio of domains, or trying to get publicity for their firms by spending so much?

taste is owned by sainsbury's - iirc it was 110k, I might be wrong.
When you spend £100k on a domain, you don't start developing it until you've secured the name - I'm the same. No point spending money and resources on it until it's yours. As I understand, several of those domain owners are now recruiting in order to develop them.

I picked up greenfeet.co.uk (lessen your carbon footprint - greenfeet) for future use but if .co.uk's are picking up in price I might just cash in instead. Any takers for £50,000:D:eek:
