Hi everyone.
I don't know if this is in the correct bit so I apologise in advance if it is. I have an ecommerce site and on the left I have my categories ie: For her, For him, For teens etc as my site is a gift shop.
Anyway under For Teens, For Children & Greeting Cards, I have some sub-categories, Girls & Boys etc. Is there any way that I can get rid of them from the left hand side with my categories but still keep them in the middle of my page at all?
I'm pretty sure it's possible as i'm sure i've seen other sites like it. Any information would be great.
Thanks. Karen x

Hi,
depends what script you used to make the website and how it is made. You can remove or add anything! What are you using to make it?

hello,
zooki is right. It sure depends on the cms you are using. I think oscommerce is flexible enough to permit this type of editing without removing the actual contents. I really think you should get more specific help about using oscommerce, cuz I don't use it.
if you have the time, yYou may well switch to Joomla. It's an open source, free cms with shopping cart, blogs, forums et al, and most of all you can modify it as you like. the learning curve is not too steep.

I dont know Oscommerce script. Im sure there is a way of editing that without having to open up your script files and changing the code in them.
Did you try asking in the Oscommerce community Forums?
forums.oscommerce.com/
I think you can get people who know your script to help you there.

Hi Zooki,
For what you want to do, you don't need any script knowledge :)
In Admin, go to categories and you will see folders which are your categories. Don't load any products at this level (Top).
Lower down you will see buttons 'new category' and 'new product'. Ignore these, unless you wish to add more products.
Click on a folder, that will reload the screen with what ever is under the folder you clicked (more folders aka categories, or actual products). Now you can start adding new products.
Whilst your looking through these pages, you can edit the folder titles and product information etc.
Now the above will help you remove and add categories to the left, however you mention products in the middle. Are these being shown as 'new product' 'best sellers' etc. Or are you referring to a page of brief descriptions of products which have to be in a category below the 'Top' level mentioned earlier?
Perhaps if you send me a url via pm, I may be able to advise further. Though as mentioned earlier, the OSC can be very good, though don't expect people to rush to help. Also don't post in multiple folders on the same date. If no answer, its best to reword your question.
HTH
