When we lived in Florida, we learned of a local law that requires anyone who cuts down a tree to plant a replacement tree. In this way, trees remains at least as numerous in the future as today. The rule is hardly burdensome, does not in any way impose on personal rights and freedoms, and doesn't impose a burden on small business. As long as the replacement trees are native to the area, I'd vote for such a law every time.

What other simple laws, not burdensome to the individual or to small business, would you promote as a way to improve or to protect the environment?

Even though Fly tip fines can be huge, it still goes on loads.

My dad works in the EA ( still), and every so often they used to stake out fly tip points.

Not any more, no funding for it.

Thanks the current Government.

Make big business with huge office blocks switch off all lights, computers and chargers at night.
I was at the top of the BT Tower a couple of weeks ago, it was after 9pm and all you could see was London lit up by office block lights. Surely that's not necessary and could easily be rectified by simply turning a switch?
